Each of the projects below began with a site, a client, and a set of conditions that would not repeat. A waterfront lot in Miami Beach is not an oceanfront parcel in Highland Beach. A penthouse in Brickell is not a villa in the Caribbean. The responses are different because the questions are different.

 

What holds them together is a way of working: begin with the place, find the light, set the proportions, choose the materials last. The rest follows. Some of these residences took three years to complete. Some are still in progress. All of them are shown here as they are, in the condition and the light in which they were built.
