Coastal Minimalism in Motion: Fort Lauderdale Beach Residence
The lot sits directly on Fort Lauderdale Beach, narrow and deep, with the Atlantic on one side and the street on the other. The house responds with a clear section: two stories of living above a sheltered ground floor, the whole thing topped by a hipped roof in flat tile that nods, without irony, to the older Florida vernacular.

The most talked-about element is the cantilevered lap pool on the first floor: 66 feet of water projecting beyond the building line, suspended above the sand. You swim facing the ocean with nothing below you but air. It is a structural performance, but more than that, it redefines the relationship between the house and the beach. The ground-level pool, surrounded by tropical planting, is calmer, more private, closer to the earth.

Inside, the palette is warm and deliberate. Natural wood finishes, polished stone, white walls that let the ocean light do the work. The kitchen is hidden and functional, with a prep station behind sliding panels and a workspace designed for daily use, not display. Upstairs, the living areas open onto wide terraces through retractable glass, and the master bedroom wraps the corner with views down the coast.

The rooftop terrace is spare: lounge seating, planting, and the full length of the beach visible in both directions.
